USCAR is the umbrella organization of Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company, which was formed in 1992 to further strengthen the technology base of the domestic auto industry through cooperative research.
About USCAR
Chrysler, Ford and General Motors are fierce competitors in the marketplace, but under the umbrella of the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR), they work together on shared technological and environmental concerns. UScAR was formed in 1992 by these three companies.
The main focus is to:
Monitor current research projects and consider new opportunities
Coordinate the industry's interaction with government researchers
Share results of joint projects with member companies
Seek and recommend funding from public and private sources for joint research and development

Don Walkowicz Named USCAR Executive Director
Donald Walkowicz, veteran automotive executive and two-time executive director on-loan to the United States Council for Automotive Research was named to the USCAR executive director post today (March 30) by the USCAR Council. His appointment is effective immediately.
