U.S. Automotive Materials Partnership LLC

Welcome to the official Web page of the U.S. Automotive Materials Partnership (USAMP) LLC.

USAMP is an industry partnership of Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company (established in 1993) focused on developing materials and processes that enable the high volume production of vehicles that when compared to todays vehicles are:

  • half the mass
  • as affordable
  • more recyclable
  • of equal or better quality and durability

Mission

To identify and conduct or direct non-competitive research and development in automotive related materials and material processes.

Goals:

  • Define new projects which comprehend non-competitive needs of the member companies
  • Provide leadership and guidance to automotive material suppliers regarding research and development priorities
  • Provide a single voice to government agencies that represents the technical needs for collaborative R&D in automotive materials
  • Align its portfolio with the FreedomCAR needs of the OEMs

Press Release: USAMP RECEIVES $6 MILLION AWARD FROM DOE FOR ADVANCED HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL PROJECT

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 15, 2013 – The United States Automotive Materials Partnership LLC (USAMP), in collaboration with the Auto/Steel Partnership (A/SP), received a competitively solicited award for $6 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its “Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) Approach to Development of Lightweight, Third-Generation Advanced High-Strength Steels (3GAHSS)” project.
