Electric Power Systems Working Group

Mission

To address the fundamental challenges of the expansion of the 14V system; and to arrive on common best practices, interfaces and performance standards for potentially new electrical subsystems and features which could tax the 14V system beyond its operational limits, particularly those impacted by "Stop-Start" systems operating at low voltage (<60V).

Priorities

1.  Continue to develop best practices & common approaches in the expansion of the existing 14V electrical system

2.  To study, test and evaluate the benefits of a 48V system for various vehicle functions, focusing on the high power consumption features such as “Electric Power Steering” and “Electric Radiator Fan” systems, and less emphasis on the powertrain functions such as “stop-start”
